Dec 1

Although it seems hard to believe, December is already upon us and the ARKive team has spent the last year searching far and wide for images and footage of the world’s most endangered species as part of our “Most Wanted” campaign to coincide with the International Year of Biodiversity. Thanks to the help and generosity of our Media Donors we have now profiled thousands of threatened species, but the hard work doesn’t stop here and that’s where you come in!

The next step is to spread the word about ARKive and help to raise the profile of the 18,000 species currently in danger of extinction according to the IUCN Red List. With this in mind, this week we launched our Speak Up for Species campaign and set ourselves the ambitious challenge of reaching 18,000 “Likes” on Facebook, with each “Like” representing a species in peril.

 Speak up for Species

Each week we will be posting a series of clues about a mystery endangered species (keep an eye out for these on Facebook and Twitter as well as right here on the blog) so that you can play along at home and test your knowledge of the natural world. To reveal the answer you simply need to head to the ARKive Facebook page and click on the “Like” button. Plus as an extra special thank you, we will be giving you the chance to win a Pentax Chameleon camera!

OK, so how can you help? Well, we would love it if you could….

If you need a bit of inspiration just take a look at these noisy creatures! They might be making a racket in the wild but when it comes to conservation it is our job to speak up for them.

The more people who are aware of the danger these species are in, the better chance we have of saving them, so we really do have something to shout about!
